11/11 – A Special Day

11/11…a special day for many reasons.

Yesterday was my birthday and why celebrate just one day when you can have a birthday week? So Nov. 11 occurs during my birthday week, a celebration of my life week, a week full of love.

11:11 is also a powerful and transformational activation code. 11:11 is a powerful manifesting portal. I invite you to take some time and envision your desires and feel as if they are already here. Get into the energy of it, the feeling of it and then look for the guidance that magnetizes it to you.

11/11 is also Remembrance Day here in Canada. Remembrance Day (when we have the tradition of wearing a remembrance poppy) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth Countries since the end of the First World War to honour armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.

For me, it is a time to remember and honour all the men and women who have lost or risked their lives for us to have the freedoms we currently live with. Thoughts of my Granddad who fought in the British Army in WWII are always with me on this day.

I have stood in the cemetery at Dieppe where many of our Canadian soldiers are buried from WWII. I have also been to the American cemetery near the D-Day landing beaches of France. Thousands of crosses, for the American soldiers who lost their lives in that same war covered the grounds.

And I stood in the German cemetery in Normandy where thousands of German soldiers lay. As I stood there, I was overwhelmed by a wave of compassion. It surprised me how strong it felt. This was the burial site of our “enemy” in the war.

But I realized in that moment, that many of these German soldiers were either brainwashed or had their lives and the lives of their families threatened if they did not fight. Each one was someone’s son, someone’s brother, someone’s husband….just like our soldiers.

The amount of lives lost in those cemeteries was too much to take in. All in the name of war…

I think about humanity today and while we are not in the midst of a World War, we are in the midst of a worldwide pandemic.

And not just a pandemic of a virus, but a pandemic of fear, of separation, of power over, of competition, of greed….

It’s been going on a long time and it took a virus to shine a big ol’ light on it all for us to see.

People have chosen sides in this pandemic, just like people have chosen sides in religion, politics, gender, races…

Our differences, our uniqueness should be celebrated and yet because we don’t understand people who are different from us or think differently from us, we become afraid of what we don’t know, we make the “other side” wrong, we judge to protect ourselves and we allow even more separation to occur.

What if we looked at the people in our lives who are very different from us, who see things differently, who we don’t understand and get curious about them instead?

What if each of us chose 1 person in our lives who have a different point of view and instead of making them wrong, we asked them questions with the intention of understanding them a little bit better and being open to hearing their perspective? It’s not about agreeing with each other. It’s not about debating each other. It’s about desiring to get to know them better. It’s about connection instead of separation. It’s listening to understand.

We are all different for a reason. What a boring place this world would be if we were all the same. Our differences are not meant to be used to separate us. They aren’t meant to cause fighting and wars.

The fighting in this world, the chosing sides in this world can begin to shift and change when we choose on an individual level to stop fighting others and to stop fighting within ourselves.

Love and compassion for ourselves and embracing all the different parts of ourselves instead of judging and resisting them is what is being asked for. Then we can do the same for the people in our lives and cause a ripple effect. As within, so without.

Union instead of separation. Compassion instead of judgement. Love instead of fear.

That’s what I am a stand for.

Remembrance Day…may we remember the truth of who we are and choose from love.

Much love,

Glenda
